Course Overview
The Level 3 Diploma can be taken as a one year Diploma or as a full two year Extended Diploma. This programme is challenging, rewarding and enjoyable and offers a valuable experience for anyone with a keen interest and aptitude in this subject area.
The Level 3 Diploma in Performing Arts has been designed to provide you with the knowledge, skills and understanding necessary to access and progress to Degree Level study and employment in the Performing Arts sector. It provides an opportunity for those who have an interest in Performing Arts to explore, develop and test their creativity within a qualification structure which is stimulating and demanding and provides a supportive transition from general to more specialised study
The Diploma and Extended Diploma are characterised by experiential, experimental and integrated learning, relying on the application and transfer of recognised skills, whilst valuing the accidental and novel results that can occur in both individual and collaborative practice, and recognising common principles and distinctive characteristics within the field of performing arts.
The course is made up of a variety of units and you will develop skills through a range of activities to enable you to achieve. You will be working in a wide range of performance disciplines and gaining skills such as dance, drama, singing, musical theatre and choreography via both solo and group work. There will be opportunities to work with practising professionals and you will participate in cultural and contextual activities supported through educational visits and masterclasses.
Your learning programme is made up of a number of qualifications including the Welsh Baccalaureate. Coleg Cambria is committed to supporting your progression to employment or Higher Education. Therefore, all courses at Coleg Cambria provide the opportunity for the development of English and Maths to Level 2 and ideally to GCSE Grade C/4 if you have not already achieved this at school/college. This will enhance your prospects in the jobs market and will enable progression to Higher Education.

5 GCSEs at grade C/4 or above including English Language/Welsh (1st Language), or for progression learners the successful completion of L2 Performing Arts qualification.
All applicants will also undertake an entrance workshop, which they must attend and successfully complete.

This course prepares you for employment in the Performing Arts Industries, and application to university and nationally recognised Dance and Drama Schools onto courses such as music production, set and theatre design, acting, dance, music promotion or technical theatre.
