The course covers a range of floristry skills that are essential to the floristry industry covering designs such as tied, funeral and wedding. You will also gain an insight into botanical names of flowers and plants, the range of jobs available in the industry and what organisations there are that support florists today. As part of the course students participate in interesting educational visits and work experience.

Students have access to high quality facilities, well equipped practical workshops and extensive online resources. A wide range of common and unusual fresh flowers, foliage and sundries are provided to students as part of the course.

Learning will be as fun as possible and you will learn through a variety of methods, including lectures and practical work, and will use a range of modern learning technology.

English and Maths are an integral part of the programme and we will work with you to improve your literacy and numeracy skills, as well as provide an opportunity to re-sit English and Maths GCSEs where relevant.
The course is assessed through an examination and a controlled assessment synoptic assignment. Throughout the programme you will take part in a range of mock examinations and assessments, as well as informal practise assessments to help you with learning the course content effectively.

You will also carry out an external work experience placement in the Floristry industry.
