Course Overview
The Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Beauty Therapy General is a job ready qualification based on National Occupational Standards (NOS). This qualification will provide you with the requisite knowledge, understanding and skills to work competently as a beauty therapist. Throughout this qualification you will ensure responsibility to reduce risks to health and safety, promote additional services or products to clients, develop and maintain your effectiveness at work, provide facial skincare treatment, enhance the appearance of eyebrows and lashes, carry out waxing services and provide pedicure and manicure services. The qualification also covers anatomy and physiology relevant to the units in level 2.
In parallel, learners will develop their communication and customer service skills, their awareness of environmental sustainability and their commercial skills, all of which are valued highly by employers. Problem solving, team working and research skills will also be developed.
In addition to the Level 2 Beauty Therapy qualification, the learning area programme consists of the following:
● GCSE in English & Maths or Essential Skills Wales
● Development of Welsh language skills , through Welsh in the workplace
● All learners must complete a Work Placement
Please note that your timetable will include one evening a week.

4 GCSEs at grade D/3 or above including Maths and English Language/Welsh (1st Language) or successful completion of Level 1 Beauty Therapy.

On successful completion of this course learners are able to progress to the Level 3 Diploma in Beauty Therapy Treatments, Level 3 Diploma in Nail Technologies, Level 3 Diploma in Spa Treatments, Level 2 Diploma in Hair Artistry and Make Up or Diploma in Theatrical, Special Effects and Media Make-up.
Working as a Beauty Therapist within the beauty industry in commercial salons and spas or beauty retail concessions.
