Course Overview
This course is designed to provide students with an understanding of sports and physical fitness, offering a realistic simulation of a working environment within the industry.
Nine units are delivered in a project based format:
Performance and Leadership Project
· Sports Coaching
· Leadership in Sport
· Practical Team Sports
Future Destinations Project
· Preparing for a Career in Sport & Physical Activity
· Work Experience in Sport
· Sport Development
Health & Lifestyle Project
· Exercise, Health & Lifestyle
· Fitness Testing for Sport
· Instructing Physical Activity & Exercise
The advanced Welsh Baccalaureate Qualification (WBQ) will be included in this programme of study. The WBQ gives greater breadth to students' learning, providing the skills and personal qualities that employers and HE institutions are looking for.
There may also be the opportunity to take some additional qualifications throughout the course. All learners will be expected to improve their literacy and numeracy skills.

Students are also expected to complete the necessary guided learning hours for this qualification.

This course requires *equipment and uniforms to be purchased. *There may also be some payable trips that are necessary to fulfil assessment criteria.

5 GCSEs at grade C/4 or above including English Language/Welsh (1st Language) and Maths.
For progression learners a Level 2 Diploma in a relevant subject with GCSEs in Maths and English Language.
An active interest in sports participation, coaching or officiating is a compulsory requirement for all applicants.
At Coleg Cambria we would encourage you to do the very best that you can in your exams. The better your grades the more options you will have, and may result in you gaining entry onto a higher level course.
For progression learners a Level 2 Diploma in a relevant subject with GCSEs in Maths and English Language.
