Course Overview
The course has been developed for individuals working in, or intending to work, in the Health and Social Care sector.

You will complete the core qualification alongside the Principles and Context qualification.

The qualification consists of 7 units and will provide a thorough introduction to the principles, values and knowledge needed to work in the Health and Social Care sectors with adults and children and young people.

The content for the Core qualification is made up of the following 7 units:
- Principles and Values Children and Adults (2 units)
- Health and Wellbeing Children and Adults (2 units)
- Professional Practice (1 Unit)
- Safeguarding (1 Unit)
- Health and Safety (1 Unit)
The core qualification is assessed by one externally marked multiple choice question paper.
4 GCSEs at grade D/3 or above, which must be in English Language/Welsh (1st Language) and Maths, or satisfactory performance at Level 1.

You must be able to demonstrate the potential to work independently and safely in health and social care settings.

Progression learners from level 1 courses will need to demonstrate they have achieved at least a Level 1 ESW for English and Maths if they have not achieved D’s in GCSE. Progression learners will apply in March with their Progress coach.

At Coleg Cambria we would encourage you to do the very best that you can in your exams. The better your grades the more options you will have, and may result in you gaining entry onto a higher level course.
Completion of the Level 2 Health and Social Care: Principles and Contexts qualification could lead to:

● Level 3 in Health and Social Care: Principles and Contexts
● Advanced GCE in Health and Social Care, and Childcare.
● Level 3 Health and Social Care: Practice

The most relevant pathway will depend upon the outcome achieved within this qualification and others taken alongside.
Some courses may require kit/uniform to be purchased. Please see attached kit list for further information.
