Being an Enhanced programme, there is a particular focus on employment throughout the year. Students are given additional support sessions to work with specialist tutors to develop their CV’s and interview skills, and also work with our internal Job Shop to help them identify and apply for active apprenticeship vacancies with our partner companies.
The programme also has the benefit of up to 5 weeks work experience with one of our partner Engineering companies. This will give students a taste of what their potential career could look like and the opportunity for them to start networking with industry contacts. Please note, work experience placements may fall into typical college holiday periods (e.g. October half-term, Easter etc.).
To help further integrate with the local Engineering industry, the programme also gives students the opportunity to achieve an Industrial Cadets (Bronze) award. This award involves small groups of learners working with specific industry mentors to develop a solution to an engineering problem, culminating in a ‘graduation’ ceremony where they are able to show off their project solutions.
