Course Overview
A combination of theory and practical units providing opportunities to gain the knowledge, skills and experience necessary to be successful in future studies and employment in the sports industry.

Additional qualifications and training are made available to learners over the duration of the two year course to further enhance future progression and employability prospects:
● National Governing Body Level 1 coaching awards in a variety of sports
● Sports Leaders UK Level 2 Community Sports Leaders Award
● First Aid
● Safeguarding

Assessment will be in the form of written assignments, presentations, practical sports performance, the delivery of coaching sessions and successful work experience.

5 GCSEs at grade C/4 or above including English Language/Welsh (1st Language) and Maths.
For progression learners a Level 2 Diploma in a relevant subject with GCSEs in Maths and English Language.
An active interest in sports participation, coaching or officiating is a compulsory requirement for all applicants.
At Coleg Cambria, we would encourage you to do your very best in your exams. The better your grades, the more options you will have, and as a result you may be able to progress to a higher level course

Alternatively students may find direct entry to employment in the sports and active leisure industry.
Recent leavers progressing to higher education have gained places to study sports related course at Cardiff Metropolitan University, Liverpool John Moores and University of Chester. Alternatively, other leavers have gained employment in the sports industry working for local employers such as Freedom Leisure and Urdd.
The two year course can attract up to 168 UCAS points.
Alternatively students may find direct entry to employment in the sports and active leisure industry.
