Course Overview
The Level 3 Diploma can be taken as a one year Diploma or as a full two year Extended Diploma. This programme is challenging, rewarding and enjoyable and offers a valuable experience for anyone with a keen interest and aptitude in this subject area.

The Level 3 Diploma in Performing Arts has been designed to provide you with the knowledge, skills and understanding necessary to access and progress to Degree Level study and employment in the Performing Arts sector. It provides an opportunity for those who have an interest in Performing Arts to explore, develop and test their creativity within a qualification structure which is stimulating and demanding and provides a supportive transition from general to more specialised study.

The course is made up of a variety of units and you will develop skills through a range of activities to enable you to achieve the very best outcome. You will be working in a wide range of performance disciplines and gaining skills such as Dance, Drama, Singing, and Musical Theatre. There will be opportunities to work with practising professionals and you will have the opportunity to participate in cultural and contextual activities supported through educational visits and masterclasses.

Your learning programme is made up of a number of qualifications including the Welsh Baccalaureate. Coleg Cambria is committed to supporting your progression to employment or Higher Education. Therefore, all courses at Coleg Cambria provide the opportunity for the development of English and Maths to Level 2 and ideally to GCSE Grade C if you have not already achieved this at school/college. This will enhance your prospects in the jobs market and will enable progression to Higher Education.

Students who successfully complete this course will gain the UAL Level 3 Diploma In Performing & Production Arts.
In order to achieve the Diploma qualification (year 1) you must successfully pass eight units. Unit 8, which is a collaborative performance project, allows you to demonstrate all the learning that has taken place through completion of the other units. This unit is graded Pass, Merit or Distinction and determines the overall qualification grade.

In order to achieve the Extended Diploma qualification (year 2), you must successfully pass 12 units including units 1–8 of the Diploma and in addition Units 9-12. Unit 12, which is an extended project, allows you to demonstrate all the learning that has taken place through completion of the other units. This unit is graded Pass, Merit or Distinction and determines the overall qualification grade and is internally and externally assessed.
5 GCSEs at grade C/4 or above including English Language/Welsh (1st Language) or for progression learners the successful completion of Level 2 Performing Arts qualification.

All applicants will also undertake an entrance workshop, which they must attend and successfully complete. Entrance workshops are scheduled for June and September, further information will be released during the application process.

At Coleg Cambria we would encourage you to do the very best that you can in your exams. The better your grades the more options you will have, and may result in you gaining entry onto a higher level course.
This course prepares you for employment in the Performing Arts Industries, and application to University and Nationally recognised Dance and Drama Schools onto courses such as Acting, Dance, or Musical Theatre.
