Course Overview
The Level 2 Diploma in Performing Arts has been designed to provide you with the skills, knowledge and understanding necessary to progress to further study and training in a range of Performing and Production Arts subjects, including Acting, Singing, Dancing and Musical Theatre.
The qualification has been designed for students who have an interest in the Performing Arts. It will prepare you for further study at Level 3 and a potential career in the Performing Arts industry.
This course is made up of a variety of individual and group projects. You will be introduced to a range of activities essential to the development and delivery of a performance such as acting, vocal and movement skills. During the course of the year, there will be opportunities to take part in public performances. Teamwork plays a vital part of the course and you will create performance material as part of group work. There will be opportunities to work with practicing professionals and you will participate in cultural and contextual activities supported through educational visits.
Your learning programme is made up of a number of qualifications. Coleg Cambria is committed to supporting your progression to employment or Higher Education. Therefore, all courses at Coleg Cambria provide the opportunity for the development of English and Maths to Level 2 and ideally to GCSE Grade C if you have not already achieved this at school/college. This will enhance your prospects in the jobs market and will enable progression to Higher Education.
Students who successfully complete this course will gain the UAL Level 2 Diploma in Performing Arts.

In order to achieve the qualification, you must successfully pass nine units. The final unit, Producing and Performing to an Audience, allows you to demonstrate all the learning that has taken place through completion of the other units.
This unit is graded Pass, Merit or Distinction and determines the overall qualification grade and is internally and externally assessed.

4 GCSEs at grades D/3 or above including English Language/Welsh (1st Language) or for progression students the successful completion of a Level 1 qualification in Music or Performing
All applicants are accepted to participate in a workshop audition prior to being accepted on the course. This is an opportunity for learners to meet their tutors, and for their tutors to assess their current skill set and knowledge within Performing Arts.

Employers see the value in the completion of a Level 2 Diploma, the course prepares you for employment in the Creative Industries. If you want to continue and progress with your studies the year after, you can enrol on a Level 3 qualification in Performing Arts subject to successful completion of the Level 2 course.
