Duration | Full Time, This is a 1 year full time course. Access Blended delivery is a credit based, modular course which can be studied full time over a period of one year (34 academic weeks) running from September to June. The course is offered at 53% face to face contact, running between 9.15am and 6.30pm, on a Thursday on campus, the remainder as online e-learning which can be completed in a time that suits you during the week. An important aspect of this programme is your own personal time management and it is crucial that you plan ahead in regards to your allocation of both online and independent studies. Having such a plan in place will support you and your success. |

Course Overview
The Diploma aims to prepare learners for study at university. The course comprises of mandatory modules in the specialist subjects together with Core Skills Studies. The units include subjects such as Anatomy & Physiology, Sociology and Health. The core skills will include communication and study skills, for example. In addition to formal lectures and online study, there is also a work placement module (no placement is required).
The programme is achieved by continuous assessment, the majority of which is assignment work with some experience of timed tests or examination situations. Credits are achieved on satisfactory completion of each unit of study. To be awarded an Access to HE Diploma, 60 credits must be achieved, which include a number of mandatory credits. Level 3 credits are graded as Pass, Merit or Distinction.
On successful completion of the full programme of study students are awarded the Agored Cymru ‘QAA – recognised’ Access to H.E. Diploma.

GCSE grade C/4 in English/ Welsh (1st Language) or Maths, with at least grade D/3 in the other subject.

Experience in a suitable Health Care setting is preferred. Applicants should be 19+ to study this course.
However, we encourage adults with life and work experience to still apply even if they don’t have the above entry requirements as each learner application is assessed on an individual basis.
Prospective applicants are encouraged to contact individual universities for information about entry requirements.
Learners should be committed to a level 3 full time programme and developing their ability to study. IT skills are essential as a substantial part of the course is delivered on-line.
