Course Overview
This qualification has been designed to allow learners to obtain and then demonstrate knowledge about nutrition and health. It is appropriate for learners of all ages, whether employed or not, and applies to all sectors but particularly health and social care, hospitality and catering or sport and fitness.
Learners will develop knowledge in the following areas;
* Explore principles of healthy eating
* Consider nutritional needs of a variety of individuals
* Use food and nutrition information to plan a healthy diet
* The principles of weight management
* Understanding eating disorders
* Principles of food safety for the home environment
Learners will develop knowledge in the following areas;

There are no entry requirements for this qualification. However, learners must be assessed to ensure they have a reasonable chance of achievement and will be able to generate the required evidence. The qualification is designed to equip learners with knowledge in nutrition and health.
This qualification can be delivered in a number of ways, including remote delivery or face to face session delivery. Other options can be discussed prior to delivery.
The qualification consists of 6 units.
The course is usually delivered 1 unit per month and consists of a taught session and workbook for each unit.
Accreditation of prior learning is also considered, but this can be time bound.

This qualification is part of a framework.
Once completed, learners can progress to the following qualifications as long as their job role is suitable.
● Any City and Guilds Level 2 Diploma or certificate in Catering and Hospitality
● Active IQA Level 2 Leisure Operations
● Active IQ Level 2 Activity Leadership
● Level 3 Diploma in Hospitality and Supervision
Once completed, learners can progress to the following qualifications as long as their job role is suitable.
