Course Overview
This qualification has been designed to allow learners to obtain and then demonstrate knowledge about nutrition and health. It is appropriate for learners of all ages, whether employed or not, and applies to all sectors but particularly health and social care, hospitality and catering or sport and fitness.
Learners will develop knowledge in the following areas;

● Explore principles of healthy eating
● Consider nutritional needs of a variety of individuals
● Use food and nutrition information to plan a healthy diet
● The principles of weight management
● Understanding eating disorders
● Principles of food safety for the home environment
Open distance learning and work based assessment.
Assessments will take place to assess knowledge and competence.
Online support is available through a virtual learning environment.
Learning takes the form of a mixture of remote and face to face delivery, written and oral questioning.

Accreditation of prior learning is also considered, but this can be time bound.
There are no entry requirements for this qualification. However, learners must be assessed to ensure they have a reasonable chance of achievement and will be able to generate the required evidence. The qualification is designed to equip learners with knowledge in nutrition and health.
This qualification is part of a framework.
Once completed learner can progress to the following qualifications as long as their job role is suitable.

● Any City and Guilds Level 2 Diploma or certificate in Catering and Hospitality
● Active IQA Level 2 Leisure Operations
● Active IQ Level 2 Activity Leadership
● Level 3 Diploma in Hospitality and Supervision
