Course Overview
This qualification is knowledge-based and designed for learners who are aspiring managers but are not yet in a leadership and management role within the Health and Social Care sector. Legislation, theories and models of person/child-centred practice.

The Level 4 Preparing for Leadership and Management in Health and Social Care qualification is assessed through a combination of seven tasks through internal and external assessment.
For the external assessment learners must successfully complete:
● A project that contains a written report, presentation and discussion based around a proposed change to practice
For the internal assessment learners must successfully complete:
● A series of tasks, involving both oral and written responses
For the external assessment learners must successfully complete:

● A series of tasks, involving both oral and written responses
It is suitable for the following:
● learners who have successfully completed a Level 2 Health and Social Care, or a recognised equivalent
● learners who have successfully completed Level 3 Health and Social Care: Practice (Adults), or a recognised equivalent
● learners who have successfully completed Level 3 Health and Social Care: Practice (Children and Young People), or a recognised equivalent
● learners who have successfully completed a Level 2 Health and Social Care, or a recognised equivalent
● learners who have successfully completed Level 3 Health and Social Care: Practice (Adults), or a recognised equivalent
● learners who have successfully completed Level 3 Health and Social Care: Practice (Children and Young People), or a recognised equivalent
The Level 4 Preparing for Leadership and Management of Health and Social Care qualification provides the knowledge for managers to take their first step into a leadership role supporting both horizontal and vertical progression on to:
● Level 4 Professional Practice in Health and Social Care
● Level 5 Leadership and Management of Health and Social Care: Practice qualification
This qualification is a requirement in order to access the Level 5 Management of Health and Social Care Practice and will enable registration with Social Care Wales whilst working towards the level 5.
You do not need to be in a management role for this qualification if completed as a stand-alone, however, if completed with immediate progression to level 5 it is essential to be in either a deputy manager or managers position. We are happy to discuss your current role prior to admission and give advice as necessary.
