Course Overview
This qualification prepares you for further learning and training whilst developing an understanding of the teaching and learning environment in a school setting.
This course is a knowledge-based qualification that comprises 3 units. The first unit is aimed at helping you to understand child development and linked to learning within the school environment. The second unit looks at equality, diversity and rights in relation to those that work within the school environment and the third unit is about the effective use of communication within a learning environment.

This qualification will be internally assessed using a range of methods, which could include written assignments or tasks such as designing a leaflet or booklet, charts or diagrams, or setting up an information board.
No specific entry requirements. This is a knowledge-only qualification. Learners do not need to be working or undertaking practical placements to take this qualification.
Learners may have the opportunity to progress onto a suitable level 2 qualification such as the Level 2 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning to support a career pathway as a teaching assistant.
