Course Overview
Have you ever wanted to create your own website? Are you interested in web design and development, but have never been sure where to start?
This course is for YOU!
Websites can be a representation of subjects such as specialist interests all the way to solving current business needs for any company. In fact, it is hard to imagine any business currently not having an internet presence. Have you ever wondered how websites are made? Would you like to learn how to make a website for your own interests?
If so, the course for you is here!
The Web Design and Development course will take you through the basics of HTML, (Hyper-text Markup Language – the language that we use to build websites), while using a program to help us called Microsoft Expression Web. This is a free program, and this course will not only show you how to use it within the course, but also how to download the software at home if you want to continue to learn via the exercises and continue to build your website ideas. Free eBook literature showing how to use the software will also be readily available.
Along with showing you how to use Microsoft Expression Web, you will also be shown how to use Adobe Dreamweaver, which is an industry standard program used by professionals to build websites. Adobe Dreamweaver is licensed software that needs to be paid for, but you will be able to use it at the college while on the course.
This course aims to show you the basics of website design and development using a mixture of HTML, CSS (Cascading Style Sheets), and web design principles.
No prior knowledge is required other than a familiarity with the standard workings of a computer - you will learn the technical skills you need to help you create a website. Bringing a set of headphones with you would be beneficial for certain parts of the course.
