Digital marketing is an essential component of an overall marketing strategy and involves using digital and social media to increase awareness and advertise a product or service.
When using social media, a huge amount of information is generated by users, who are also interacting and sharing information more than ever before.
The use of social media now has such a massive reach that digital marketing seeks to capitalise on, aiming to contact and engage potential customers in a personalised way through a range of media channels.
This course will introduce you to the necessary concepts involved in this process and provide you with the tools to use social media and digital marketing in an impactful way.
As part of this course you will be expected to create/use an email account as well as a range of social media accounts to help develop your skills and build relevant profiles. You will use these profiles and marketing tools to help promote a fictional small business.

● Features of digital communication, including: text-based, audio and online communication, attached files, one-to-one and group communication methods
● Factors to consider when selecting a digital communication technology, including: suitability to the purpose, differences between instant messaging, audio-visual communications and email
Skills in using digital communication technologies
● Selecting and creating content, including: text with appropriate formatting, images, web links
● Using audio-visual communications technologies (online conferencing), including audio and video equipment
● Posting content on social media sites to promote business interests
Using digital communication technologies safely and securely
● Security threats resulting from the use of digital communication technologies
● Methods of protecting against security threats
● Importance of safeguarding personal information and methods of protection
