Course Overview
This course is designed as an introduction into the Sport and Public Services sectors. Students will develop the skills they need to progress to further learning, an apprenticeship, or employment.

Modules include Playing Sport, Keeping Active and Healthy, Taking Part in Fitness Testing, Planning and Navigating a Route, and Working with Others. Industry experts will share their knowledge and experience of working in Uniformed Public Services and working in Sport to give meaningful insights into the various sectors.

All learners following this programme will take part in a range of active sports, including outdoor activities & Princess trust.

Literacy and numeracy development will be a core focus for all learners on programme with each learner having the opportunity to undertake Essential Skills Wales qualifications in Communication and Application of Number.

Learners will be assigned a Progress Coach who will support them throughout their time on programme. Together with the main Course Tutor the team will ensure that any ALN support is put in place before learners start and that any new support needs that may arise are incorporated into their programme to help them to succeed. The course is fully supported to meet individual needs and learning differences.

The programme is delivered over three days and will be a mixture of classroom and practical indoor and outdoor delivery.
Most components of the course are continually assessed using written and practical work and rely on an excellent level of attendance.
The course is designed for learners working at Entry level and so formal qualifications are not required for entry onto this course.

At Coleg Cambria we would encourage you to do the very best that you can in your exams. The better your grades the more options you will have, and may result in you gaining entry onto a higher level course.
Learners will be supported to plan their next steps throughout the course. Progression could be to one of the following:
A higher level course in a vocational area of your choice
Traineeship or apprenticeship programme
Employment
A community based programme
