Talented Coleg Cambria Theatrical and Media Makeup students recently supported a local theatrical company at Theatr Clwyd.
Learners provided performers of ‘The Dee and Alyn Gilbert and Sullivan Society’ with hair and make-up for their production of Kiss Me Kate.
The students applied theatrical, special effects and media make-up as well as hair styling on the performers based on a 1940’s theme with red lips and victory rolls.
Cambria Theatrical and Media Makeup students, Katy Ford and Scarlett Roberts said:
“It was a great experience and we learnt the importance of stage makeup with different lighting and distance. We worked well as a team and helped and supported each other throughout.”
Gill Hindley, Lecturer in Theatrical and Media Makeup said:
“It was a wonderful opportunity for the learners to work backstage on the production of Kiss me Kate. This work placement was important as the learners were able to gain experience in a real working environment with real actors and actresses, taking on board the pressures and demands that come with the role.
“It was inspiring to witness the growth in both confidence and skills as the week went on. I was impressed with the work ethic of the make-up team and look forward to our next project.”Go back
