Coleg Cambria has been promoting a range of IT and Tablet courses in Flintshire.

Working closely with Ella Jackson, the Older People’s Engagement Worker from OWL Cymru, the college has been supporting a group of learners by delivering a 10 week ‘Using a Tablet Computer Course’.

The course held in the community room at a complex of sheltered accommodation in Flintshire sees the majority of the 14 learners bring their own tablet computers with them.   Some were already using their devices and wanted to join the course to be able to use them more confidently; others had little or no experience of using a tablet device before joining.

Kerry Lloyd, tutor at Coleg Cambria said:

“It’s been a pleasure teaching the group and it has been so lovely to see their confidence grow each week.

Although many of the learners already knew one another and engaged in a number of activities together, it has given them another opportunity to meet on a weekly basis. The group is relaxed and friendly and the learners are always willing to help one another whenever they can.

As part of the course they have been able to search the internet, shop online, use apps and email and learn about online safety.”

The course is due to finish at the end of June and many of the learners have already spoken about their increased confidence in using their tablet computers and about their enjoyment of the course.
