Equine students from Coleg Cambria have recently returned to college following a day full of competitions at South Staffordshire College.

During the Intercollege competition the students had to ride a dressage test as an individual and then work together to answer quiz questions based on equine topics and general knowledge.

The team which included Beth Dykins, Jade Owen, Shannon Frangos and Georgia Anderson came 3rd overall with Beth securing 1st place in the individual dressage phase.  The competition was not only an opportunity to gain prizes but also to achieve personal goals.

Bethany Dykins, 19 from Wrexham added:

“I enjoyed competing against people from other colleges and being given the opportunity to put what we have learnt at college into practice.”

Natalie Cliffe, Equine Lecturer at Coleg Cambria Northop said:

“This was a super day for all, the students were able to implement the skills and knowledge they have developed throughout the course and apply it in a competition setting.

It was enjoyable for the staff that went with them as we were able to reflect on what they had achieved and support them in their journey.”

The rest of the group supported the four competitors at the event and shows the dedication and support they have for the course and their peers.
