The area has outstanding flora and fauna, a wide range of natural species of vegetation and wildlife and provides an excellent resource for practical work and bringing theory into practice.

The college has a 970 acre estate including 150 acres of dedicated conservation woodlands, commercial forestry plantations and amenity trees. The farm estate has a range of commercial farmland, heath, hedgerows and other habitats managed within the Glastir scheme.

We offer a range of countryside programmes selected for their diverse career opportunities within this exciting and growing industry. These are for people with interests in the arts of rural and country estate management, wildlife conservation, commercial forestry and arboriculture or more domestic careers in tree surgery.

Whilst studying you will use a range of specialist machinery including chainsaws, brushcutters, wood chippers, skidders, forwarders and other timber processing equipment.

Close links to partner organisations including Royal Forestry Society and Wildlife Trust sites will give you excellent opportunities to study and work on a wide variety of habitats and sites including woodlands, heath and moorland, ranging from the coast right up to the mountain tops.
