We’re really proud of all of our students and even prouder when we hear their stories of where they are now and what they’ve achieved.

Two of our students, Garan Rushton and Stewart Macfarlane met and studied the Art & Design Foundation course at Coleg Cambria Yale back in 2000 before progressing to university.

Garan went on to read Graphic Communication (Hons) at the University of Wales, in Cardiff and Stewart went on to study BA (Hons) Moving Image at Huddersfield University. They both went into separate careers in their industries, working at design agencies but they always dreamt of having their own creative agency since their time at college together.

In 2009, the two took the first big step and set up Soup Creative Ltd, an all-round design agency with bases in Chester and Cardiff. With only a couple of clients on their books, it took time, dedication and a lot of long hours, but the business is now a video-focused creative agency, producing TV commercials; high-end 3D animation work and online commercials and promotional films.

Three years after it was founded, Emma Garland joined Soup Creative, who also studied the same Art & Design course at Coleg Cambria Yale, where she met Garan and Stewart. Things have gone from strength to strength and Soup is now a tight-knit team of 11 producing videos for clients including Sony, Bettys & Taylors, Manchester City Football Club and Coleg Cambria too!

Soup Creative Video Catalyst, Emma said, “Our Art & Design course at Coleg Cambria Yale gave us the most important, first stepping stone to develop and begin our careers and dreams.

“Hand on heart, we can say this was one of the best years of our lives! And we’re now 35 so that’s pretty good going!!”
