Tammy the Bagot goat recently gave birth to the first Bagot goat of the season at Coleg Cambria Northop.
Little Tawen was born to Tammy on Saturday 4th, who is the first of possibly five pregnant goats to give birth. The college promotes the rare breeds as part of its animal care courses at Northop on the Rare Breeds Centre alongside rare breed sheep, pigs and poultry.
The Bagot Goat is one of the rarest breeds classed as endangered on the Rare Breed Survival Trust watch list. The college works closely with the Bagot Goat Society and have been breeding to increase numbers and encourage new breeders and owners to start new herds across the country.
There will be an opportunity for prospective student to meet the new arrival at the Northop during the Open Event this Saturday, 11th March 11am – 1pm.
