Coleg Cambria Art and Design students recently had an unforgettable experience working alongside high profile furniture designer Tim Denton.

They were invited to assist in the current refurbishment of Wrexham’s old People’s Market which will be transformed into a new Art Centre, Tŷ Pawb over the coming months.

The Art and Design learners were selected to work alongside the Manchester based designer on this community project. Denton held a series of furniture workshops for the students aimed at helping them develop new skills, such as wood turning and joint making.

Three groups of art and design students were lucky enough to attend these workshops which has been a fantastic opportunity for all involved:

Art and Design tutor, Rachel Holian said:

“The students have really enjoyed helping create furniture with unique and quirky designs.  It’s truly been a wonderful opportunity for them to work alongside Tim Denton and get involved in shaping the look and feel of Tŷ Pawb.

“Hopefully the skills learnt at these workshops will enable the students to go forward to create their own products in the future.”
