Owain Humphreys, the Student Vice President at Bersham Road for Coleg Cambria, attended none other than the Royal Wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

When Owain received his invitation letter in the post, he said “I had to phone up and check that it wasn’t a hoax and I had actually been nominated by the Lord Lieutenant of Flintshire for ‘services to the community’”.

Owain added:

“It was an absolute and significant honour to represent the College, students & my family at such a prestigious international event.

“I was delighted that my mother was able to accompany me. She has worked as a health visitor for 20 years, been a nurse for 43 & deserved to be there far more than me.

“It was a wonderful day full of celebrity watching and a real privilege to be part of such a touching and emotional occasion for the royal family.

“The highlight for me was seeing the newlywed couple walking out of St George’s Chapel with the Gospel choir singing in the background. That was a beautiful moment.”

Cambria’s Learner Engagement Officer, Rosie Burt said:

“Owain is a valued member of Coleg Cambria Student Voice programme and he contributes a vast amount of his spare time in between studies and work to the dedication of ensuring his peers views, ideas and suggestions are heard.

“I feel extremely proud and happy that Owain was able to experience and enjoy such a remarkable day and that he was able to take his Mum to enjoy as well”.
