Coleg Cambria’s exceptional A Level performance has been confirmed again today as it has been awarded an outstanding score for distance travelled by students from their GCSE grades at school to their final A Level grades.

This acclaimed position was measured by ALPS, a respected UK-wide tool which measures A Level performance and is used by over 1,600 of the best performing schools and colleges.

Just as important as looking at league tables or A Level grades and pass rates, are the ‘value added’ scores produced by ALPS which compare student achievements in schools and colleges.

Cambria has been placed in the top tier of all UK schools and colleges for the progress that learners make whilst they are at college to get the highest grades, compared to their starting point.

The college recently celebrated their best ever A Level results which saw a considerable increase in higher grade achievements with over 80% of learners gaining A*- C grades and 23% (227 students) awarded A*-A.

Sue Price, Principal at Coleg Cambria said:

“We are delighted that the ALPS tool has shown that A Level learners at Coleg Cambria make much better progress than the majority of other A Level learners at school sixth forms and FE colleges across the UK, achieving significantly better grades compared to their GCSE results.

“At Cambria we use ALPS with learners to discuss their ambitions and set clear and aspirational targets for them to achieve. The results out today confirm our place as one of the highest A Level performers in North Wales and Cheshire, supporting and challenging our learners to surpass their potential and getting into the best universities.”
