Studied – Level 4 Advice and Guidance

Currently – Working at Local Solutions

“I left school with very few qualifications and although I have always worked, my lack of qualifications has been reflected in my pay grade. I wanted to prove that I could complete a qualification as that was the only thing holding me back from progressing.

“My employer Local Solutions gave me lots of opportunities and thankfully with the help and guidance from Lynsay Lorey-Jones, my college assessor, I was able to gain my first qualification.

Being able to complete the work-based qualification allowed me to continue to contribute to and support my own family while working on improving my future prospects.

“I would like to give Lynsay a special mention – she gave me the belief that I could complete this course. It’s always difficult to think about studying, homework and using technology when it doesn’t come naturally, especially when it’s something I never did in school.

“I wasn’t the most academic but I was given the opportunity by Local Solutions and Coleg Cambria to get a rewarding qualification.”

Studied – A Level English, Drama, Maths and French

Currently – Presenter and News Correspondent for the BBC

“I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do in the future, so I chose a range of different subjects to study at A Level. I’m now employed by the BBC as a Presenter and News Correspondent and studying at Yale Sixth gave me the confidence and skills to go onto university. I made some amazing friends, had some great teachers who I’ll never forget and had a great time in Wrexham!

“I look back on my time at Yale with pride and fondness and will never forget it!”
