About Apprenticeships
Why Choose An Apprenticeship?
Kickstart your career with an apprenticeship and earn as you learn.
Across North Wales and beyond, companies are recruiting for apprenticeships and training people in the skills they need to succeed in their career.
As an apprentice you will earn whilst you learn, gaining skills, knowledge, experience and recognised qualifications along the way. Whether you’re aged between 16 and 19 or 20 and over, a range of apprenticeship options may be available to you.
If you work in management and want a qualification to back up your skills, a management Apprenticeship can be tailored to suit your workplace and a huge variety of industries for people with all levels of experience.
Learners will work towards completing an Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM) qualification through work based assessment and have the opportunity to attend classroom based training at our Cambria Business School to boost skills and knowledge that can be applied to day to day management tasks.
Learners completing these qualifications need to be understanding, organised and have excellent communication skills.

April Wilkinson
Studied – Level 5 Leadership and Management
Currently – Technical Manager at Tata Steel
“Despite having managed people for a number of years, I had no formal management qualifications. I wanted to do this qualification because staff that reported to me were embarking on the Level 4 qualification, so thought it would be good to do this at the same time.
“I learned new tools that I can apply in the workplace which helped me to consider and understand how individuals perform as part of a team, and because the NVQ element is delivered on the job it helped me to reflect on day to day activities I perform in my role.
“I am now a Technical Manager at Tata Steel and I am considering options for studying a degree in Leadership and Management.”
Lisa Owen
Studied – ILM level 5 in Coaching and Mentoring
“I chose to study Coaching and Mentoring as I really enjoy helping others and I wanted to learn a new skill that would complement the work I do now and enable me to branch out and do some self employed work in the future.
“It’s helped me as I now feel I have learned some vital coaching skills which I apply in my current job as a team leader and I’m working on building up a coaching and training small business specifically focusing on some key areas such as Neuroinclusion and young people.
“My tutor Ant was wonderful from start to end, providing me with the support and guidance needed to complete the course.”

How it Works
In Wales, Apprentices need to be 16+ and work a minimum of 16 hours per week to complete an Apprenticeship. The employer must be willing to support you in the Apprenticeship as you will be assessed in the workplace and may need to regularly attend college (this depends on the qualification) to learn new skills and complete any exams.
You will be assigned an industry experienced practitioner who will come into your workplace and set tasks for you to collect evidence which goes towards your qualification. They will also check on your wellbeing and ensure there are no issues or sign post you to additional support at Cambria if needed.
