Johnathan Pritchard who lives in Switzerland recently returned to his home country to complete his Pesticide Application (PA) 2 ‘Tractor mounted spraying’ course at Coleg Cambria.

Johnathan, 28 originally from Abergele works as a greenkeeper at the Golf Club Bad Ragaz, at The Grand Resort Bad Ragaz, the only resort in Switzerland to have two golf courses of its own.

A well-travelled Johnathan who has worked in countries including Australia, New Zealand, Sweden and Germany to gain experience within the industry completed his PA1 ‘Principles of safe handling and application of pesticide’ and PA 6 ‘Safe application of pesticides using pedestrian handheld equipment’ at the college over six years ago.

During his flying visit back to Wales to successfully complete the course, Johnathan also had the opportunity to visit friends and family.

“It’s been nice to be back in Wales for a couple of days, I was eager to come to Coleg Cambria to complete the PA2 Spraying course that will help me with day to day work as a greenkeeper in Switzerland.  I’m part of a big team that maintains the green, and our work includes construction work of the course and maintaining the hotel grounds during the winter months whilst maintaining the green and its surrounding area during the summer months.”

Mike Gedd Lecturer at Coleg Cambria said:

“Johnathan was an excellent student and very knowledgeable, it was a pleasure to teach him again and I wish him every success in Switzerland with his green keeping.”
