These courses are right for you if you have any learning difficulties and/or disabilities, and you want to explore and develop skills for life and work. We have a wide range of Life Skills pathways and we’ll support you as you develop your personal, social and independence skills, whilst also improving opportunities for you to move on to employment or further study.

We know, as a unique individual, that you’ll have individual needs, and we’ll work closely with you to identify your long term destinations and set achievable targets with you. You’ll also benefit from an individualised curriculum with the support you require.

Studied – Independent Living Skills

“For four years at Northop I studied ‘Life Skills ‘, it was amazing! I learnt many new skills and made new friends.

“I loved cooking tasty meals, improving IT skills and housekeeping but there was so much more to this course. I really enjoyed going out in the community to shop, meals out and trying sport activities.

“But mostly I loved the staff, they were brilliant! I felt supported by caring staff who helped me to grow and become more independent. This course has helped with my confidence and where I would like to go in the future and hopefully find a job I love.”

Studied – A Level English, Drama, Maths and French

Currently – Presenter and News Correspondent for the BBC

“I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do in the future, so I chose a range of different subjects to study at A Level. I’m now employed by the BBC as a Presenter and News Correspondent and studying at Yale Sixth gave me the confidence and skills to go onto university. I made some amazing friends, had some great teachers who I’ll never forget and had a great time in Wrexham!

“I look back on my time at Yale with pride and fondness and will never forget it!”
